...I'm sure you all may have tried.

I dabbled around with a Canon T3i (loaner) for about 3 months and in my research came across Provost Flat. setting that sees us toning down sharpness, saturation and contrast.

I thought about how this would apply to the Film Simulation of the X Pro and other devices.
The Flat response did allow for more of an overall tone but I was drawn to Fuji because of the talk surrounding the In Camera quality. Which I do love but who doesn't experiment with...
