Relatively new to X-Pro 2. Dim OVF overlay.

I’m relatively new to the XP2 and I’m finding the overlay (histogram, etc.) to be pretty dim and virtually impossible to see in brightly lit areas.
I was at a beach in the Philippines a few days ago and it was impossible to see the histogram (for example). I resorted to two different ways to see it quickly. First by putting my hand over the front of the OVF for a second or two, blocking it off and, secondly, sometimes quickly switching to the EVF and then back to the OVF. Neither are a...
