LCD Problem - Marks UNDER the top layer

Has anyone experienced similar problems to this on the XP1? The marks are UNDER the top layer and are getting worse. I have had the camera for about 18 months and the marks have really only been an issue for the last 3 or 4. I read somewhere that it might be an issue with the anti-glare screen. They are not impact marks of any kind but look more like the type of air bubbles you might get if you applied a screen protector incorrectly. I don't have a protector on the LCD....
