X-Pro2 one-size-fits-all focus method?

I am so used to using back-button focus with my Nikon DSLR for every subject either static or moving, I find myself wishing for a similar focus method with my X-Pro2. I was just experimenting with keeping the focus selector switch on C, then for static subjects locking focus with the AE-L button (with function reprogrammed to AF-L), and for moving subjects using the shutter button only. The only annoyance of this is having to keep my thumb down on the AE-L button, rather than just a tap like...
